Eastman Auto & Power has inaugurated an 800 MW solar module manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana, as the company expands its domestic solar manufacturing capacity in India.
The company said the new plant forms part of its strategy to deliver integrated solar solutions, combining photovoltaic modules with grid-tied, off-grid and hybrid inverters as well as energy storage batteries.
Modules produced at the Sonipat facility comply with India’s domestic content requirement (DCR) rules and standards set by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), making them eligible for participation in government-backed solar programs.
Eastman said the new manufacturing capacity also supports the government’s Make in India initiative, which aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imported clean energy technologies.
The company added that the expansion will help support rooftop solar deployment under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a national program designed to accelerate residential solar adoption across the country.
