Czechia’s Economic Committee of the Chamber of Deputies has supported a series of proposals aimed at speeding up the construction of solar power plants, according to recent discussions on amendments to the country’s Building Act.
As a key permanent body within Czechia’s lower house of parliament, the committee backed two major plans: increasing the electricity tax payment threshold from the current 50 kW to 100 kW, and preventing double taxation for battery energy storage systems installed at the same site as solar plants.
Jan Krčmář, executive director of Czech solar association Solární Asociace, told pv magazine that the association has been negotiating with the current government to streamline the permitting process for solar power plants since the government was formed late last year.
He noted that the association has been advocating for raising the electricity tax threshold for PV owners to 100 kWp and, in cooperation with Czech battery association AKU-BAT CZ, working to avoid double-charging for batteries.
“The Ministry of Industry as well as the Finance Ministry both agreed, and we worked out a wording that was now passed in the economic committee of parliament,” Krčmář said. He added that committee-recommended amendments and laws are highly likely to be passed and enforced.
