LONGi Partners with SG Energy to Scale LONGi BRIGHT BIPV Solutions Across South Korea

LONGi has sealed a strategic cooperation deal with South Korean BIPV specialist SG Energy to accelerate the rollout of its LONGi BRIGHT building-integrated photovoltaic portfolio throughout South Korea, one of the world’s fastest-growing BIPV markets.

The two parties will jointly advance KS product certification, launch demonstration and pilot BIPV projects, and build out nationwide sales channels targeting premium commercial and public buildings. The tie-up marks a major milestone for LONGi’s global expansion of LONGi BRIGHT and reinforces its worldwide BIPV business layout.

South Korea’s robust BIPV demand is driven by strict energy efficiency policies. Since 2023, national rules enforced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) mandate public buildings to adopt Zero-Energy Building (ZEB) standards. All new private multi-family residential developments must hit ZEB Level 5 or above by 2026.

Coupled with green building certifications and corporate RE100 pledges, these regulations fuel strong appetite for solar products that double as construction materials.

Constrained urban land and limited rooftop space push building facades, sunshades and boundary walls to become key solar generation surfaces. BIPV products enable property developers to meet ZEB targets without sacrificing usable floor area.

LONGi BRIGHT is engineered to satisfy such local requirements, featuring customizable sizes and diverse color options to replace conventional facade, roof and shading components while generating clean power. The solution has proven reliable in landmark domestic projects, including the renovation of Beijing Workers’ Stadium and installations at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, complying with national building codes while delivering robust power output.

SG Energy contributes deep local expertise covering BIPV development, distribution and construction delivery a cross South Korea. Its on-the-ground market strengths complement LONGi’s leading BIPV technology, enabling tailor-made solar solutions aligned with Korean building specifications.

Discussions on the cooperation were initiated by LONGi’s Korea team following talks between Zhao Bin, President of LONGi East Asia and Southeast Asia, and SG Energy’s management. The formal signing was completed by Bai Zhongxue, Assistant to the Chairman and President of LONGi’s Building PV System Business Unit, and Justin Lee, CEO of SG Energy.

Beyond certification and project deployment, the collaboration covers full technical support and market development initiatives to sustain long-term growth of South Korea’s domestic BIPV sector. By combining LONGi’s innovative BIPV technology with SG Energy’s local execution and distribution network, the alliance aims to greatly boost the adoption of building-integrated solar solutions nationwide.
