
Avaada Electro, the solar PV manufacturing subsidiary of Avaada Group, has launched the first 3GW production line at its 6GW N-type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a major milestone in the group’s domestic renewable energy manufacturing expansion.
The 6GW state-of-the-art tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cell facility is being commissioned in phases. The initial 3GW line is now operational, while the remaining 3GW annual production capacity is in the ramp-up stage. Equipped with advanced 16-busbar and 18-busbar cell architectures, the production line delivers high-performance N-type TOPCon solar cells with a maximum conversion efficiency of 25.5% under standard test conditions, effectively boosting power density, operational reliability and overall energy yield of solar modules.
Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Electro Limited, emphasized the project’s strategic significance for India’s renewable energy and industrial development. “With the inauguration of our 6GW solar cell factory in Nagpur’s Butibori region, Avaada is driving India’s green industrial transformation and advancing full technological self-reliance in the solar sector,” Mittal stated. “This facility embodies our commitment to building a localized manufacturing ecosystem that reduces reliance on foreign imports, accelerates national economic growth, and solidifies India’s leading position in the global energy transition. More than industrial infrastructure, it is an indigenous, sustainable manufacturing complex rooted in domestic innovation and environmental responsibility.”
The launch underpins Avaada Group’s aggressive integrated PV manufacturing expansion roadmap. Currently, the group boasts 8.5GW of annual N-type TOPCon glass-to-glass module production capacity across its Nagpur and Dadri sites, with plans to add another 5.1GW capacity to lift the total module output to 13.6GW.
Additionally, the group will build a 6GW solar cell manufacturing base in Greater Noida, raising its overall solar cell capacity to 12GW. To strengthen industrial chain self-sufficiency, Avaada will also set up 3GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity in Nagpur, completing full upstream and midstream layout of the solar PV value chain.
The integrated manufacturing ecosystem is designed to enhance supply chain resilience, optimize operational efficiency, cut logistics costs and raise the localization rate of India’s solar PV industry.
