Independent power producer BNZ has appointed Sungrow as the preferred battery energy storage system (BESS) supplier for a 240 MWh energy storage project supporting two operational solar photovoltaic plants in Italy’s Lazio region.
The strategic cooperation covers BESS integration works for two local solar assets, including the 45 MW Rinaldone photovoltaic plant and the 53 MW Camposcala photovoltaic plant, both located in the province of Viterbo. No specific installation timeline has been disclosed by the two parties.
Under the comprehensive supply agreement, Sungrow’s deliverables encompass a full suite of professional solutions and services, ranging from batteries, container units, power conversion systems (PCS) and medium-voltage equipment to on-site commissioning, field testing, professional technical training, as well as the deployment of a third-party energy management system (EMS).
The deal is anchored in a broader strategic framework partnership between Sungrow and Nuveen Infrastructure, the parent company of BNZ, marking a solid step of the two parties’ in-depth collaboration in the European clean energy storage sector.
As part of its European renewable energy layout, BNZ is advancing a robust energy storage development pipeline, with a total planned battery storage capacity of 530 MW across Europe within its overall 850 MW clean energy project portfolio.
