Kyrgyzstan’s government officials have held talks with Singapore-based firm Sunvera Solar Pte. Ltd. over the establishment of solar manufacturing facilities within the country, marking a key move to develop its domestic renewable energy industrial chain.

According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the two sides discussed building a high-efficiency solar cell production plant with a planned capacity of up to 2 GW. Sunvera Solar regards the initiative as one of its core international investment projects. Both parties will next conduct project feasibility assessments and arrange site visits for potential production locations to advance project implementation.

The nation’s operational solar capacity has seen further growth this year, with its largest solar asset to date — a 175 MW photovoltaic plant — launched in June. The facility serves as the first phase of a 1.9 GW large-scale solar project jointly developed, financed and managed by Vietnam’s Rox Energy Global and RECA LLC.
