Caelux Partners with Two Indian Solar Manufacturers for 5GW High-Efficiency Tandem Solar Module Production

US-based perovskite solar technology firm Caelux has secured two key partnerships with leading Indian solar manufacturers to develop and produce advanced perovskite-silicon hybrid tandem solar modules, accelerating high-efficiency solar adoption across India.


The company has signed collaborative agreements with Navitas Solar and Rayzon Solar. Under the five-year partnerships, both Indian manufacturers will integrate Caelux’s proprietary perovskite-coated “active solar glass” with mainstream n-type TOPCon solar modules. The innovative hybrid tandem design is projected to achieve a maximum conversion efficiency of up to 28%, significantly outperforming conventional silicon solar products.


Each partnership targets a cumulative production capacity of approximately 5GW of high-efficiency tandem modules over the five-year term, injecting robust momentum into India’s domestic solar manufacturing and clean energy deployment.


A core advantage of Caelux’s patented active glass technology is its flexible compatibility with standard silicon solar module architectures. By applying perovskite coating on solar glass instead of embedding volatile perovskite materials directly into solar cell structures, the design effectively avoids the stability risks of perovskite components while simplifying mass production and upgrading traditional silicon solar technology.


Scott Graybeal, CEO of Caelux, emphasized the strategic value of the India-focused collaborations. “By integrating our technology into its module, Navitas Solar is taking the lead in India’s ambitious clean energy goals, both in terms of domestic production and deployment. Together, we aim to deliver advanced solar solutions that support India’s clean energy transition while strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities,” he stated.


Industry insiders noted that the technological upgrade is highly tailored to India’s renewable energy development landscape. With solar photovoltaic power serving as the cornerstone of India’s renewable energy targets and substantial government investment in solar manufacturing and deployment, the efficiency gains brought by Caelux’s perovskite glass will drive substantial progress for the country’s clean energy sector.


Ankit Singhania, co-founder and director of Navitas Solar, highlighted the transformative potential of the technology cooperation. “As India enters the next phase of its renewable energy journey, the focus must extend beyond capacity expansion to manufacturing globally competitive, high-efficiency technologies within the country. Crucially, this leap in world-class technology and scale will serve as a powerful engine to fuel the Government of India’s ambitious vision of achieving 500GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030,” he said.


The partnering companies confirmed that commercial hybrid tandem solar products are scheduled to launch by 2028. The new modules will qualify for India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) scheme, enabling wide deployment in government-bid utility-scale solar projects across the country.


The cooperation further strengthens Navitas Solar’s expanding manufacturing layout. The firm recently announced a 3.6GW solar cell production plant investment in Gujarat, alongside a pilot line for silicon ingot and wafer production. Currently, it operates 3GW of module production capacity, covering mainstream TOPCon and PERC solar products.


The India partnerships mark another milestone in Caelux’s global expansion. Earlier this year, the US firm inked a 3GW five-year tandem module cooperation deal with American solar company Solx. It has also rolled out commercial shipments of its perovskite glass, launched pilot production cooperation with California-based Tandem PV, and joined a UK-led advanced materials research project with industry heavyweights including NVIDIA and Meta.
