
Latin America-focused solar and storage developer Verano Energy has selected China’s Sungrow to deliver the full battery energy storage system (BESS) and key inverter equipment for its flagship Observatorio renewable project located in Marchigüe, O’Higgins region, Chile.
Under the formal agreement, Sungrow will provide its advanced PowerTitan 2 solution to support the 152 MW / 606 MWh BESS of the Observatorio project, alongside a comprehensive 25-year long-term service agreement. Additionally, the firm will supply its high-efficiency SG350HX-20 inverters to power the supporting 135 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant, forming a high-performance solar-plus-storage integrated system.
The hybrid renewable project is poised to strengthen the stability of Chile’s national electrical system and accelerate the integration of renewable energy into the country’s power mix, laying a solid foundation for Chile’s energy transition drive.
Tomas Anuch, CEO of Verano Energy, emphasized that the Observatorio project marks a pivotal milestone for the company’s development in Chile’s renewable energy sector. “This project consolidates our position as a key player in regional renewable energy generation. The integrated energy storage system enables us to fully unlock local solar resource potential, enhance the flexibility of the power grid, and deliver tailored solutions that align with Chile’s growing demand for renewable energy integration,” Anuch stated. He added that the strategic partnership with industry-leading provider Sungrow has further bolstered the company’s confidence in project delivery and long-term operation.
Gonzalo Feito, Regional Director of Sungrow Latam, echoed the positive outlook on the collaboration. “We are honored to be entrusted by Verano Energy as the core solution provider for the Observatorio project. This cooperation underscores our consistent commitment to building high-standard energy infrastructure and advancing the low-carbon energy transition across Chile and Latin America,” Feito said.
The partnership comes amid robust growth in Chile’s energy storage market, reflecting the country’s firm commitment to scaling up solar and battery storage deployment. As of June 2026, Chile has 19.2 GWh of battery storage projects under construction and an additional 11.8 GWh in the testing phase, demonstrating massive market potential for renewable energy storage development.
