CATL Powers Quinbrook’s Supernode Battery Project in Queensland with Advanced Energy Storage Solutions

 Leading global battery manufacturer CATL has unveiled its tailored technology solutions for the landmark Supernode battery energy storage project in Southeast Queensland, solidifying its core partnership role with global investment giant Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners on the large-scale energy storage initiative.


Developed by Quinbrook, the Supernode project is a massive 780 MW/3,074 MWh campus-scale battery energy storage facility, constructed in three phases. Following the official commercial operation of the project’s second stage in late July, which lifted the site’s total operational capacity to 520 MW/1,858 MWh, Quinbrook secured AUD 469 million (USD 327 million) debt financing for the upcoming third stage. The 260 MW/1,216 MWh third phase is supported by a 15-year power offtake agreement with Queensland state-owned power generator Stanwell Corporation, ensuring long-term stable operation of the project.


As the exclusive technology and battery supplier for the entire Supernode project, CATL will adopt differentiated advanced storage systems for different phases to support the project’s full-capacity construction and operation. The first and second operational phases are equipped with CATL’s mature EnerC Plus systems under a comprehensive Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA). For the upcoming third stage, CATL will deploy its upgraded, state-of-the-art Tener S system, a new-generation solution from its flagship Tener series, delivering higher performance and more reliable energy storage capabilities for the project.


Tan Libin, CCO and co-president of sales and marketing at CATL, shared insights on the evolving energy storage industry amid the project’s latest progress. “Energy storage is evolving from a standalone technology deployment into a strategic energy asset. The next stage of industry development will depend not only on technological advancement, but also on the ability to create long-term value through collaboration, innovation and scalable deployment,” he stated. “At CATL, we are committed to working with partners to unlock the full potential of energy storage assets and support the transition toward a more flexible and resilient energy system.”


The Supernode project marks another key overseas benchmark for CATL’s advanced battery energy storage technologies. By providing full-cycle product supply and long-term technical services, CATL continues to empower large-scale grid energy storage projects globally, accelerating the clean energy transition and the construction of sustainable, low-carbon energy systems worldwide.
