
Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has completed its latest tender for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, awarding a total capacity of 2,135 MW across 261 successful bids. The tender saw strong market enthusiasm with 401 submitted project proposals totaling 3.17 GW, marking clear oversubscription. The finally allocated capacity exceeds the authority’s initial planned volume for this round.
In this auction, the average bidding price reached €0.0479 ($0.055) per kWh, with successful bid prices ranging from €0.0438/kWh to €0.0497/kWh. Regionally, Bavaria claimed the largest awarded capacity at 429 MW, followed by Baden-Württemberg with 266 MW and Lower Saxony with 225 MW, reflecting concentrated solar development in southern and northern German states.
Compared with recent bidding rounds, Germany’s utility-scale solar tariff continues to show a steady downward trend. The May auction allocated 2.3 GW of PV capacity via 268 bids at an average price of €0.0494/kWh, with a price corridor of €0.0399/kWh to €0.0510/kWh. The February round secured 2,328 MW capacity at a slightly higher average price of €0.0500/kWh.
Historical tender data further demonstrates maturing and cost-competitive solar deployment in Germany. The mid-August 2025 auction awarded 2.27 GW of PV capacity with prices ranging from €0.0400/kWh to €0.0626/kWh. Another February 2025 tender allocated 2,150 MW across 242 bids at an average price of €0.0476/kWh, with bid prices spanning €0.0388/kWh to €0.0495/kWh.
