French energy major Engie has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with data‑centre operator QTS (Quality Technology Services), delivering 48 MW of solar power for QTS’ data‑centre facilities near Irving, Texas.

The power will come from the 61 MW Lubio Solar project located in Kaufman County, Texas, which is being developed by ABEI Energy. Engie holds a separate long‑term PPA with ABEI Energy for output from the site, which has not yet reached commercial operation. Once online, Lubio Solar is projected to generate approximately 150 GWh of clean electricity per year.

The deal marks continued collaboration between Engie and QTS to deliver renewable energy solutions adapted to the fast‑changing requirements of the data‑centre industry. AI‑enabled data centres are widely expected to become a major driver of US electricity demand, with major technology firms including Google, Microsoft and Amazon ramping up power supply investments to sustain their operations.
